  • Objectives

    The Economics and Management study program is designed as professionally oriented. The aim of the study program is to educate experts with a spectrum of skills and knowledge in the field of economics and management. Students will gain an overview of important economic principles, suitable methods and approaches in management and organizational financing, including the management of business processes. Participants of the study program will acquire a flexible and broad foundation for a career in economics and management and should be able to contribute to various industries and organizations. In the Economics and Management study program, emphasis is placed on linking theory with practice, implementing international experience into educational and scientific activities, including the use of interactive teaching methods.

    The study program is structured according to the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (hereinafter "ECTS"). One credit according to the ECTS system equals 25–30 hours of student workload. Throughout their studies, students must earn 180 credits. The entire study program must correspond to a workload of 4,500 hours, and 1 teaching hour is 45 minutes.

    Compulsory subjects – 28 subjects (140 ECTS credits)

    Compulsory elective subjects – 8 subjects (minimum 25 ECTS credits).

  • Practical Training

    Practical training is an integral part of teaching in individual years of study and forms a link between theory and practice. The system of professional practice supports the school's intention to strengthen and develop the employability of graduates and the economic level of the region and meets the requirement of a professionally oriented study program. During the professional practice, there is intensive communication not only between the company and the student, but also between the company and Moravian College Olomouc, o.p.s. with the aim of obtaining feedback from employers on the professional readiness of students and future graduates of the school and monitoring the needs of the labour market for the knowledge, skills and competencies of future job seekers.

    The basic objective of the professional practice at Moravian College Olomouc is to enable the student to use the theoretical knowledge gained during his or her studies in practice. At the same time, it is an opportunity to verify the acquired knowledge and skills in practice. Professional practice leads the student to his professional profile, which contributes to increasing the competitiveness of the graduate in the labor market.

    The system of professional practice consists of a set of student activities, through which the student prepares for entering and integrating into the work environment, gets acquainted with different types and types of work environments, adapts to the requirements of a specific occupation, demonstrates his interest in work activities, applies the knowledge and skills acquired in teaching in various work activities. At the same time, they demonstrate and develop their skills, abilities and knowledge applicable in the work environment, including problem solving, the use of information technology and communication.

    Professional practice often also serves students as a starting point for the elaboration of qualification theses, in which students solve the assignment of a specific employer.
