Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The objective of this course is to provide students with a basic overview of concepts related to Computer Science, Information Technology and Information Systems. After completing the course, the student is familiar with computer hardware, able to describe function of computer, peripherals and Operating Systems like Windows, Linux a Mac OS. Students also must know basics of networking and ISO/OSI model. Part of the course is dedicated to software for economic calculation (Excel) and basics of typography in word processors. Today, mobile technologies play a major role. With mobile technology, Ergonomics and Cyber Security are even more important.
Syllabus
  1. Basic IT terminology such as abstraction, representation, interpretation, and others.
  2. Computer hardware.
  3. Computer networks, basic types of networks, network elements.
  4. Introduction to operating systems. Windows, Unix-like operating systems, Mac OS.
  5. Mobile devices, mobile operating systems, and current industry trends.
  6. Application Software for Economic and Cross-Disciplinary Practice.
  7. Principles of Cybersecurity.
  8. Artificial intelligence: core concepts, functionality, and responsible use.
  9. Advertising, Social Networks, and Contemporary Communication Channels.
  10. Health protection, safety and ergonomics when working with computers.
  11. Working with office programs (MS Word, Powerpoint).
  12. Working with office programs (MS Excel).
