Cíle předmětu
The course introduces to students the field of general finance and financial market. The aim of the course is to present the function of the monetary and capital markets in the context of both global and European monetary systems. The aim is also to introduce the operation of credit, exchange and foreign exchange markets as well as markets of securities and financial derivates. Basic and special financial phenomena, processes and tools are analyzed. Attention is also paid to financial institutions, their function, activity and products.

  • 1. Corporate finance and monetary relations (the value of money and its application in the financial management of a company).
  • 2. Financial management of a company (property and capital structure of the company).
  • 3. Current assets management, liquidity management, or working capital management, short-term liabilities management, a short-term financial plan.
  • 4. Time factor and risk, its concept, types, methods of measurement and influence on financial decision-making in a company (financial planning of a company, principles, coordination and methods).
  • 5. Financial institutions, banks, investors (building societies, insurance companies, investment companies and investment funds).
  • 6. Funding and characteristics of various forms of business (a sole trader, companies).
  • 7. Alternatives of short-term and long-term funding (short-term financial management, long-term financial management).
  • 8. Credit, exchange and foreign exchange markets (a credit and credit risk, interest and interest rate, an exchange market, a foreign exchange market).
  • 9. Financial tools (factoring, leasing, forfaiting).
  • 10. The relationship of corporate finance with the financial market (classification of financial markets, monetary and capital markets, primary and secondary markets, issuers, intermediaries and investors, risks, diversification, hedging).
  • 11. The bond and stock market (valuation of shares and bonds).
  • 12. Sources of company funding on capital markets (the Czech capital market, international capital markets).

Metody hodnocení
Course credit: attendance at seminars (min. 80%), individual assignments, course assignment, case study proposal and defence, credit test. Examination: oral examination.
