Cíle předmětu
The course provides general overview of energy industry in relation with electrical engineering, economics, management, ecology, legislation, civil engineering, environmental technology, ergonomics and other disciplines. Thus, it represents a multidisciplinary area in the chain of “energy research, production and use”. The main emphasis is placed on creating an environment for application of all activities of the energy sector – as a basic strategic area of human activities (together with ensuring the quality of drinking water and nutrition of the population – the number one priority). After completing the course, the student is able to manage the energy industry unit in companies and institutions. Their knowledge of the energy forms, its production, sourcing, use as well as searching for ways of its efficient use enable to secure and manage the necessary processes in the whole field of energy issues as an important part of today’s approach to management (Facility Management which includes energy management in current management trends). Practical focus of the course enables students to enter the system of energy management in the context of current legislation not only in the Czech Republic, but also in Europe unifying in this field. Practical focus of seminars places an emphasis on calculating the return on investment in energy measures in the full range of current options in economics, but also the energy audit of buildings, ways of securing the so-called energy labels of buildings (or eventually, of the building envelope only – according to the legislative requirements). Apart from that, students are informed about energy production in various types of power plants (nuclear, thermal, hydro as well as pumped-storage and wind type) and about the ways of managing the energy distribution network (SMART GRID system, etc.), as well as about the issue of the “blackout threat”.
