Cíle předmětu
The objective of this course is to provide students with a basic overview of concepts related to Computer Science, Information Technology and Information Systems. After completing the course, the student is familiar with computer hardware, able to describe function of computer, peripherals and Operating Systems like Windows, Linux a Mac OS. Students also must know basics of networking and ISO/OSI model. Part of the course is dedicated to software for economic calculation (Excel) and basics of typography in word processors. Today, mobile technologies play a major role. With mobile technology, Ergonomics and Cyber Security are even more important.

  • 1. The importance of abstraction. Representation and interpretation of information.
  • 2. Basic principles of computer operation.
  • 3. Computer hardware.
  • 4. Computer networks, basic types of networks, network elements.
  • 5. OSI model, TCP/IP protocol, basic networking commands (Windows, Linux, Max OS X).
  • 6. Introduction to operating systems. Windows, Unix-like operating systems, Mac OS X.
  • 7. Application software, software for economists.
  • 8. Mobile devices.
  • 9. Health protection, safety and ergonomics when working with computers.
  • 10. Working with MS Office programs (MS Excel, MS Word).
  • 11. Information systems, main registers used in the Czech Republic.
  • 12. Principles of Cybersecurity.

Metody hodnocení
Course credit: attendance at seminars and credit assignment (40% of the final assessment). Examination: written examination (50% of the final assessment), oral examination (10% of the final assessment).
