Course objectives (in Czech)
Cílem předmětu English for IT je rozšíření znalostí studentů angličtiny v oblasti informačních technologií s důrazem na zdokonalení komunikačních schopností studentů v dané oblasti. Předmět buduje základní znalosti angličtiny specifické pro oblast informačních technologií, učí studenty s nimi pracovat a používat je v praxi. Výuka je založena na projektové práci, při níž studenti uplatňují nově nabyté znalosti a pod vedením vyučujícího zdokonalují své schopnosti pracovat v anglicky mluvícím prostředí na různých IT pozicích. Důraz je kladen jak na současnou počítačovou terminologii, tak na zopakování a procvičení gramatiky a funkcí relevantních pro specialisty v oboru IT. Osnova předmětu: 1. Introduction - Specification of IT project (Plan, create and publish a web site) 2. Decide the type and content of you web site - Considerations, To sell something, To amuse, To give information, General Interest. 3. Search and select a web host/service provider - Research and analyse what is available and what they offer - Many Web hosts offer everything but also without careful research any problems/restrictions can be found - Present to the class/discuss 4. Plan you web site content - A rough outline/plan needs to be constructed and presented to the class. 5. Present your home page to the class/ idea - Class discussion - Start construction of home page 6. Group to view all homepages - part A - Critise/advise/ look at vocabulary/ grammar - Teacher to control use of English, vocabulary and grammar 7. Group to view all homepages - part B- Critise/advise/ look at vocabulary/ grammar - Teacher to control use of English, vocabulary and grammar 8. Publish home page to the web 9. Checking your host providers services - Web availability - Analysis of web site traffic 10. Review your choice of hosting provider/web services - Present your analysis to the group 11. Start to construct the remaining pages of the web pages - After each page?grammar...vocabulary...check 12. Review for success 13. Zkouška
