Course objectives (in Czech)
Cílem předmětu je získat základní znalosti anglického jazyka, popřípadě obnovit základní znalosti již získané a porozumět fungování anglického jazyka a jeho odlišností od jazyka českého. Jedná se především o slovní zásobu, výslovnost a základy anglické gramatiky, ale také o základy konverzačních situací ve kterých se studenti mohou ocitnout. Kromě základů gramatických se tedy jedná i o základy tzv. Social English, tedy angličtiny používané v běžných společenských konverzačních situacích. Tento předmět studenty připravuje na úspěšné zvládnutí předmětu navazujícího v dalším semestru a to English Language 2. Osnova předmětu: 1. a) Word order in questions ( W questions ?) b) Present continuous versus present simple 2. a) Classroom language b) Family and personal adjectives ( describing yourself and your relatives) 3. a) Prepositions of place (behind, between, in front of ?) b) At the airport ( check in, ?) 4. a) Going on holidays and b) Different means of transport + advantages and disadvantages 5. a) Past simple - regular and irregular verbs b) Past continuous - introduction and usage 6. a) Past simple versus past continuous b) Prepositions of time and place ( at, on, in ) 7. a) So, because , but and although and their position in sentence and difference in meaning b) At the conference hotel - useful vocabulary building 8. a) Describing a photo and creating a story - using present and past tense b) Future arrangements - going to and present continuous for futur 9. a) Predictions, promises, decisions and offers for the - will, will not , won´t b) Look after, look for, look at 10. a) Opposite verbs, verbs + prepositions b) At a restaurant 11. a) Writing and informal letter as a mean of communication
