Course objectives
The aim is to improve students' German language skills.
Syllabus
  • Content:
    1 Negotiating a Delivery Contract. Article "Nummer eins im Bürobedarf".
    2 Customer service. German holidays. Documents needed for foreign trade.
    3 The first order. Article "Deutsch-tschechische Außenwirtschaftsbeziehungen". Extension of the comments to a graph/diagram.
    4 Acceptance/rejection of an order. Extension of the terminology (Textbausteine lesson 8), translation and additional exercises.
    5 Contract of Purchase. Violation of a Contract, Refund. The term "höhere Gewalt".
    6 Article "Ein vertragswidriger Weiterverkauf". Trademark.
    7 Extension of the terminology (Textbausteine lesson 9), translation and additional exercises.
    8 The issue of storehouses (value of stored goods, high-risk factors, security measures, insurance subjects). Taking out insurance policies (different kinds of insurance policies)
    9 Business letters (information about the shipment, invoice, letter of apology because of the delay of the shipment).
    10 Extension of the terminology (Textbausteine lesson 10), translation and additional exercises.
    11 The issue of the shipment of goods and shipping companies, packaging. Article "Eine Speditionsfirma mit Tradition".
    12 Reminder letters (reasons for sending reminder letters, procedure in the case of open reminder issues). Summary and revision.

Ability to write business letters in the frame of discussed topics.
Knowledge of the specific vocabulary from lessons 7-11 and its application in translation exercises and during communication.
