Předmět je určen pouze studentům mateřských oborů.
Cíle předmětu
The aim of the course is to train the students to be able to identify and formulate a research problem and set the objective of their thesis/research work so that it is the basis for the selection of a methodological paradigm; to operationalise the objective according to the PICO principle for a quantitative research or according to the PPC principle for a qualitative research and to determine the keywords and the information search strategy; to determine the theoretical background of the research and to formulate hypotheses or research questions. The objective of the course is also to acquaint the students with the methods of collecting, analyzing and interpreting data for different types of research, including their advantages and disadvantages. Last but not least the course aims at preparing the students for the processing of their thesis.

  • 1. Research problem and the objective, the quantitative and qualitative paradigm, differences, examples, keywords
    2. Information research strategy and record evidence in accordance with the PICO and PCC principles
    3. Determination of theoretical hypotheses and research questions
    4. Quantitative investigation, methods of approach
    5. Project structure for field quantitative testing, pilot testing and pre-search
    6. Data collection methods for a quantitative survey (questionnaire, structured interview, structured observation, content analysis, measurement, experiment, structured serial case reports)
    7. Statistical methods of data analysis
    8. Interpretation of statistical data
    9. Qualitative survey, methods of approach and project structure for field qualitative survey
    10. Data collection methods for a qualitative survey (unstructured interview, content analysis, case reports, careers, unstructured observation - videos, photos, events)
    11. Methods of data analysis - open, axial, selective coding and qualitative data interpretation
    12. Mixed research
    The course is methodically based on dialogue and participatory methods (dialogue in the whole group) and situational or case methods. Research methods are also used for data analysis.
