In the introduction to my contribution, I would like to point out some underappreciated areas that the economic history of insurance can offer to historians who are dedicated to the protectorate or World War II in general. While the importance of the Czechoslovak arms industry to the Nazi war plans is straightforward, many things are more hidden in the insurance industry. Insurance companies work with the expectations of the risks they insure. Therefore, on the one hand, they are constantly refining their estimates of the expected development of these risks. On the other hand, they address their own protection against risks that exceed their insurance capacity. This is where reinsurance business comes in, sometimes called insurance. Reinsurance cannot do without extensive international cooperation between reinsurance companies and insurance companies, which is based not only on the financial side but also on information sharing. This was also true during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. In the study, I map the main trends in the functioning of protectorate insurance, the spy potential of insurance companies and the resistance in insurance companies.
