Abstract
This paper summarizes the outputs of an external analysis for strategic decision-making in the company Havířovská teplárenská společnost, a. s. and it sets out proposals for other individual strategies. Since the company lacks any strategic document for the period of 2019-2022, the paper primarily focuses on an external analysis of the environment out-side the company itself. The following methods were used for the ex-ternal analyses: Porter’s Five Forces model and a SWOT analysis. The practical importance and impact of this paper rests in presenting the analyses results to the company’s management and the members of the board of directors. The analyses are carried out by the authors in such a way that it is possible to also use theirs methods, procedures and results for other heating companies of similar scope.
