Course objectives
The aim of the course is to deepen the knowledge and skills of students in the field of logistics management. The students will understand the deep links among the articles of supply networks, and within specific logistic systems. They will be able to make decisions about the individual tasks of logistics management in a turbulent market environment. In the lectures, the students will acquire knowledge about the operation and management of supply networks and about comprehensive management of logistics systems. The emphasis will be put on the supplier network, comprehensive logistics management and the applicability of gained knowledge through solving various case studies and practical tasks arising from real business environment. The students will also become familiar with the real environment of different companies in the form of excursions.

  • 1. Basic concepts and terminology, the logistics of yesterday and today
    2. Value chain management and the supply network
    3. SCM (Supply Chain Management), supply network: configuration, purpose and control
    4. Performance of logistics processes
    5. Decision making I.: the strategic level of logistics
    6. Decision making II: the tactical and operational level of logistics
    7. Types of supplier-customer relationships and their management
    8. Management of supply logistics
    9. Management of production logistics
    10. Management of distribution logistics, the level of logistics services providing and their applications
    11. Modern trends I: IT support of logistic processes, robotics, EDI, QR, ECR, decision-making support, material flow control (active components), the provision of logistics services
    12. Industry 4.0 and logistics management
    The course is based on the methods of confrontation and paradoxes, brainstorming/brainwriting, participatory methods and simulation methods. Practically, the students will get familiar with the issues of logistics through excursions to companies. The lectures will be mostly based on the information-receptive method, especially in the form of lectures with discussions and lectures supported by multimedia.
