Course objectives
This subject is following the subject "Informatics 1" from previous semester. Students become familiar with principles and working of both operating systems and computer networks. Tutorials are focused on (1) marketing materials creation and design, (2) performing tabular calculations.
Syllabus
  • Lectures:
    1. Introduction, information about study process.
    2. Pictures, Images, Pixel graphics.
    3. Operating systems - CPU management.
    4. Operating systems - Memory management.
    5. Operating systems - File systems.
    6. Operating systems - Memory storage.
    7. Introduction to computer networks. Network topology, classification, communication media.
    8. Network architecture. Reference model ISO OSI. Architecture TCP/IP.
    9. Physical layer. Data link layer.
    10. Network layer. IP protocol. IP addresses. Routing in the Internet.
    11. Protocol TCP and UDP. Application layer.
    12. DNS and DHCP Service. Network nodes and linkage.

    1. Microsoft Publisher and its applications.
    2. Page layout, frames. Working with text and text fields.
    3. Working with objects and pictures (group, move, resize etc).
    4. Table creation and customization.
    5. Coordination, Save, Print, Add-ons.
    6. Business card creation and design.
    7. Leaflet/handout/poster creation and design.
    8. WWW sites creation and design.
    9. Business card creation and design.
    10. Microsoft Excel. Working with sheets.
    11. Performing calculations in Excel.
    12. Graph creation, customization and design in Excel.
