Oral exam requirements
Prepare your final presentation
Prepare an 8-minute presentation on the topic you originally selected as your presentation topic (see Interactive Syllabus, Week 3).
Combine all parts of your presentation prepared during the semester into one final presentation.Use presentation theory
While preparing your presentation, use the theory covered in our classes and apply all relevant theory covered during the course (e.g. core structure, ABCD model, PEEP principle, visual aids, LEVER model, Rule of Five, etc.).Theoretical questions
Be prepared to answer theoretical questions related to the textbook and to explain the approach and techniques you used while preparing and delivering your presentation.Peer feedback and interaction
Be prepared to ask questions and give constructive feedback on your classmates’ presentations (use phrases).
This is part of your final evaluation.
Additional reasons why your oral exam may not be accepted
Reading from notes or slides during the presentation without sufficient eye contact with the audience.
If the presentation is shorter than 8 minutes.
If presentation theory principles are not followed (e.g. the Rule of Five, etc.).
The presentation must be the student’s own work. The presentation must be delivered orally, not read aloud.
Insufficient understanding of the vocabulary used in the presentation, including incorrect pronunciation or inability to explain key terms in English when asked.
By midnight on the day before the oral exam, each student must upload their presentation to the submission folder below!
