Course objectives (in Czech)
The aim of the Advanced Microeconomics course is to provide students with new analytically justified observations that expand and broaden the knowledge acquainted from the study of the Microeconomics elementary course. It guarantees more accurate orientation in the theoretical foundation of the course and a higher level of understanding of the meaning as well as the general level and the outcomes of the study of the other economic and non-economic courses in the individual specialties. The content of this course includes topics that deal with consumer and investor decision-making analysis, under the conditions of risk and uncertainty. Further on, this course targets analysing the theoretical interpretation together with the real economic problems occurring in practice. The deeper analysis of the course’s individual theoretical problems and their essential parts in context provides students with crucial microeconomic analysis skills and the ability to solve practical enterprise and regional-level problems. The aim is also to help in creating abilities and skills for effective economic thinking, behaviour, and decision-making.

  • 1. Introduction to study of advanced microeconomics.
  • 2. Consumer behaviour and the demand formation.
  • 3. Consumer decision-making under the conditions of risk.
  • 4. Company behaviour, choice of technology, companies’ costs and income.
  • 5. Choice of output by a perfectly competitive company.
  • 6. Companies’ decision-making in a position of monopoly.
  • 7. Companies’ equilibrium in oligopoly conditions.
  • 8. Formation of prices on production factors markets.
  • 9. Capital market.
  • 10.Investment decision-making in conditions of risk and uncertainty.
  • 11.General balance and efficiency.
  • 12.Market failure, its causes and state microeconomic policy.

Teaching methods (in Czech)
During the lectures and seminars, the information-receptive method, verbal methods (description, explanation), PowerPoint presentations, illustrative demonstration methods (graphic and schematic images, dynamic projection), participatory dialogic and practical methods (calculations, modeling) are used.

Zápočet: aktivní účasti na cvičeních, průběžné testy, zápočtový test.
Zkouška: ústní.
