- The course Intercultural Skills is intended for the international students to gain a better understanding of Czech culture, to improve their intercultural skills and to enhance the quality of the learning process. Through theoretical discussions, practical experience in participating in intercultural activities, students will develop the skills needed to communicate and collaborate successfully with individuals from diverse culture background.

- Osnova seminářů:
- 1. Introduction to intercultural communication. Subject requirements. Olomouc – a university city (student life, buddy system, orientation in the city, etc.). Useful Czech phrases.
- 2. Czech Republic (location, political system, religion, the capital city, etc.).
- 3. Czech history, culture, customs, and traditions.
- 4. Cultural specifics: comparison of Czech cultural specifics and students’ home country.
- 5. Edward Hall: low and high context cultures.
- 6. Geert Hofstede’s cultural dimensions: the Power Distance, Individualism, Masculinity, Uncertainty Avoidance, Long Term Orientation, Indulgence.
- 7. Culture and gender.
- 8. Czech business culture (business etiquette, meetings, job interviews).
- 9. Participation in intercultural activities within MVSO intercultural events.
