Cílem předmětu je získání představy o ruském jazyce, jeho specifikách a zásadních rozdílech mezi dvěma slovanskými jazyky: češtinou a ruštinou. Student načerpá bohatou slovní zásobu, potřebnou pro dorozumění se v řadě komunikačních situacích (s přihlédnutím k hovorové ruštině) a získá povědomí o ruské kultuře. Absolventi tohoto studia budou umět pracovat s ruským textem. Dosáhnou pokročilé jazykové úrovně, která jim umožní komunikaci nad běžnými tématy s rodilými mluvčími a osvojí si gramatická pravidla, která studentům umožní práci i s neznámým lexikem.
