Cílem předmětu je získání základní představy o ruském jazyce, jeho specifikách a zásadních rozdílech mezi dvěma slovanskými jazyky: češtinou a ruštinou. Student načerpá slovní zásobu, potřebnou pro běžné dorozumění se, s přihlédnutím k hovorové ruštině, a získá povědomí o ruské kultuře. Absolventi tohoto studia budou umět pracovat s ruským textem. Dosáhnou střední jazykové úrovně, která jim umožní komunikaci nad běžnými tématy a osvojí si gramatická pravidla, která studentům umožní práci i s neznámým lexikem.
